The kits of choice.
A "57 Chevy that was a surprise and most welcome gift from our friend Don Molitor. I havent made a car kit in a long time, but the 57 is to me a classic American car and a worthy challenge.
The very old and most venerable, Airfix Mosquito offers its own challenges. It has been surpassed by an excellent offering from Tamiya and the age of the moldings are quite apparent. The chances of @off loading@ this old dog at a swap meet are slim. Not helped or improved by my never attending such functions.

I was hoping for a dark red almost burgundy colour. Tyoical of my weird mind I didnt go with a standard bright red. Oh well onwards and upwards is the clarion cry.
Brush painting the seats continues as does adding multiple coats of the bright red .
Im letting the coats dry for at least 24 hours, which I hope will prevent any masking removing paint when I come to do the chrome and silver. The light burgundy colour I was hoping for has failed to materialise. It will however brighten up some what with a few coats of gloss varnish.............said he in hope more than expectation.
To be honest the colur is a lot more pleasing when viewed with the naked eye. I do still have hopes that it will be more "interesting" when the chrome and silver are applied.
update 22March
A bit of a disaster! The chrome trim has had a first coat and was looking on track to be tidied up. It was my idea to apply fine black decal stips down the sides to outline the chrome flash
My brain has gone into Homer Simpson mode at the moment,so,I guess its in the "naughty box" for my '57. Hopefully give it another coat of looking at in a couple of weeks.
.......but we all know how that works out.
