The joy of "vintage" models

Occasionally  ( becoming frequently as time marches on) my modelling efforts step back in time to that sun kissed era of my youth. Models that I usually couldnt afford  at the time and by the time I could were OOP or were a rare find.

#1  Renwalls Mace Missile and Terra Cruiser tractor/launch vehicle.  When this was first released it represented the cutting edge of military technology and along with many of Renwalls "monster " kits ,like the Atomic Canon, were well out of a schoolboys budget.

My first IPMS USA show held in Disney World Fla

. provided the newly re released boxing to tempt the the greens from my wallet. Not necessarily my best move as it took up 99% of my cabin baggage allowance. We all have to suffer for our art.😎

The size of the completed units can be judged by the 1/144 Fletcher class destroyer in the background.

Tamiya 1:48 "Dinah" Jan 2020

Having made this ,possibly, two years ago,it was left in the" naughty box" as I wasnt happy with the rather lifeless finish of the late war IJAF  colour scheme.

Having tried  using  an oil dot filter to bring the scheme on my old Spitfire together,I tried something similar here.

Not a competition model, there again none of mine are,but a good learning project. A technique I will be using again.

The upward firing canon finally fitted.
